OSCEOLA DISTRICT NEWSLETTER
OCTOBER 2006

Reminder that Roundtable is October 5th.  We have a lot of things to be discussed.   We enjoyed a great turn out last month, so let’s try to do it again this month.  Hope that you can find the time to attend.  This is the only place I am aware of where you can find out what is coming up that isn’t on the calendar.  .

Tom Hopkins has advised that we have not had any troops to sign up for the Spookoree.  Please get in touch with Tom and give him your numbers for attendance. The fall Spookoree is scheduled for 27-28-29 October at Princess Place Preserve.  All the Scouts have always enjoyed this Camp Out.  Bunny George and Al Lee Watkins will co-chair this event and the OA will again do the haunted trail.  These folks have perfected this to be one of the best outings that we have.

Most of the Scouts and now the Units have received order forms for

Popcorn sales.  If your scouts need their Fair Share Funds increased this is a good way to do it.  You are entitled to 35% of the sales this year without prizes.  If you are not using the Fair Share program then I’m sure the units use the money to purchase unit equipment.

We should be getting the recharter papers very soon and I encourage you to not sit on them.  As soon as they are received, do your units inventory of people and begin writing on a copy of the recharter.  Remember that copies of applications for anyone not on the recharter is required to be returned to council with the recharter.  Buddy Haynes, our District Commissioner, will have people ready to serve you if you have not done the recharter process before.

Al Lee has notified me that the Cub Camporee Scheduled to be held on Feb. 9-11 at Camp Echockotee has been changed to Feb 2-4.  Would all the Cubmasters please change your calendars and plan on attending.  Last years event was fun and full of excitement.  All Packs should make arrangements now to attend.

Thursday December 7^th is the annual District Banquet in lieu of the December Roundtable.  A flyer with the location and details will be coming to us shortly from our Banquet Chairman, Bunny Geores.  Please mark your calendar as you would not want to miss this event.

Congratulations to Toni Morrison who is the new Cubmaster for Pack 346.
